Train + Simple teaches dog training in plain language – online, worldwide, for everyone.

Our Story

Kate Woods founded Train + Simple in 2023 as Know Dogs Allowed. At that time, their greatest aspiration was to teach simple, affordable, online dog training classes over Zoom... only once in a while!

Train + Simple has grown and changed a lot since it started, but one thing stays the same: Kate knows that the simplest answer is usually the best one. Dog training in plain language means clear, simple, and honest communication. When clients understand the plan, their dogs can, too.

Growing a quiet, steady traction since its beginning, Train + Simple offers remote dog behaviour support on a variety of challenges. Kate’s favourite way to teach is through their regular rotation of online classes. By popular demand, they recently launched an online community for the curious and capable dog guardians they so often get to help.

Kate takes every opportunity to collaborate with other professionals so their clients can feel empowered to access the full scope of services their dogs deserve.

Kate is an Accredited Dog Trainer through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, a Fear Free Certified trainer, and a committed member of the Pet Professional Guild. Kate teaches welfare-first, force-free training approaches.

While once best known for their dog hobby memes account, Kate (they/them) is actually a professional dog trainer and behaviour consultant based in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Kate has long advocated for the recognition of pain and discomfort in dogs. Their experience coaching guardians with and loving their own behaviourally and medically complex dogs informs their work with all dogs, now and forever.
